Treyton’s Read-Alouds
Treyton read and nearly finished The Collection of Little Bear this week. I can’t remember all of the titles he read but I know he read “Father Bear Comes Home”, “Hiccups” and 2 others.
His reading skills continue to improve which is so fun to watch. It’s still a struggle and takes a lot of concentration, but he’s getting it.
Next week I am going to have him read his first chapter book.
Lapbook
We completed a few lapbooking pieces to add to our US Binder from Homeschool Share.
We included in a few pictures of when we actually visited Mount Vernon last year. Treyton actually remembers some of the trip, which is always nice to find out.
Treyton is most amazed by the fact that George Washington measured land. He can’t remember the word “surveyed” but he’s brought it up several times, just today he was saying “I can’t believe there’s a job where people measure land, I wonder what that’s like.” ![]()
George Washington Portrait
We used some soft pastels to create a portrait of George Washington.
I am so proud of Treyton’s portrait!!
(And below is mine…. just in case you’re interested)…. now you see why I’m so proud when Treyton or Alexa show strong creative skills…. there mother has none!! :)
We are flying through our Language Lessons for the Very Young, as I skip most of the memorizing and copy work, due to the fact that I have Treyton focusing on his memory verses and A Reason for Handwriting for his handwriting/copywork.
I have also been adding in Explode the Code book 2 which is helping Treyton work with consonant blends, a slight weakness of his.
Treyton got a call this week from a candy-stand customer (and relative :)) kindly reminding him that he needed to fill his snack stand.
We grabbed our supplies and headed on over to stock the stand. Tim and Treyton usually handle the “money” part of the stand (buying and selling) together, but Tim usually stocks the stand, so this was a good experience for Treyton.
Next week we are starting our state studies --- I can’t wait!!
